Santa Candy Box, Mouse Candy Box, Elf Candy Box, and Christmas Tree Candy Box

by  KDianne Stephens

For holiday time it is always fun to have a new way to present treats and gifts. These fun boxes are quite sturdy. The small boxes from 6” squares hold about 7 wrapped hard candies. The larger 12” square holds 8-12 ounces, of course depending upon size and wrappings.

In making the base, I folded with a layer of waxed paper if the box is to hold unwrapped candies. I like the way the waxed paper layer looks and feels. The challenge with this model was in the paper patterns...getting them going in the right direction. I designed some papers for the top and for the bottom individually so the patterns “worked” for the idea they were being used for – the usual stripes/lines/plaids had to be designed on the diagonal for the base; horizontal for the top.
