This challenge is organized by origamijuan. Thanks a lot for motivating all of us to create and contribute to this blog! I'm translating his message...

"Hi, ok some of you already know me for supporting origami. I would like to help Gerardo today with an exclusive challenge for this blog, I would like for many of you to participate.

Ok, I present to you this kitten so you can create the closest looking figure to this feline. The prize is one of the existing old books, it could be Kamiya's, the Insects one from Lang, one of the Tanteidan books (11, 13, 14 or 15). The figure, as we know, must be simple, it doesn't have to be too complicated. It must have the same paw gesture, without copying it from already existing figures, it must be new. Deadline: October 1st. You can place the photos here as you take them or wait till the very last day. You can't use preexisting figures, they will be eliminated from the challenge if they had already been created. Ok, I leave you this challenge, I hope many of you can participate".

How will we select the first place?

Starting today, exactly one month from the deadline, participants will get to comment whether they prefer being selected by voters or by a recognized judge. The voters would be those followers of Neorigami in facebook that aren't participating in the challenge and the judge would be Nick Robinson who has agreed to help; among a a wide variaty of models, he has a created different simple animal figures which makes him the right judge for this contest. The decision (voters or judge) that gets the most comments from the participants of the challenge wins!

That's great -sebl- You gotta create an account, you'll find that button in the right column of the blog. Once you create and login to your account, you'll find around that same place a button saying "add a new model or article". Just fill out the form and voilà.

I hope I'll see it here soon =D!

16 Models are participating in the challenge!

Now we are just waiting for the last creators to get their say between votes or judge.

No creo que sea necesario esperar a que todos den su opinion, pues ya la gran mayoria desea que sea un juez quien califique los modelos. (y esto lo digo sabiendo que soy de los pocos que pienso que es mejor elegir por votos :p)

I think that there's no need to wait for everyone to choice between votes or judge, since the most of people want a judge to decide the winner. (i said this even if i'm one of those who thinks that the votes are the best way to elect the winner :p)

I'm really looking forward to see what pople come up with. Remember, what technique you've used isn't important (I'll be looking at photos). What is important is to try and capture life in the animal. One of my own cats has agreed to help me choose.
